Healthy Salads

Summer is here and so are cool pool parties! So let's get in shape and paaaarty!! And those who don't want to party, please stay healthy for there resides a healthy mind :)

Here in this space I'm going to post healthy+yummy salad recipes. Everyone wants to keep fit but I'm not sure if our taste buds really care. Two days of eating salad and they demand KFC. Like they have earned it! If you want your taste buds to like salad everyday without bribing them with junk, you have to make salads taste like(if not better) KFC. Here is the first recipe to healthy living.

Summer Salad -1

Good for 2

Ingredients:
Mixed salad leaves (Iceberg, lettuce, rosso lettuce) - 2 hand fulls, cut coarsely
Parsley (optional)  - 2-3 strands, pick leaves
Rocket leaves     - 5-6 coarsely cut
Basil (optional)      - 5-6 leaves
Cucumber     - 2 diced
Tomato         - 2 diced
Cabbage       - 1/2 small cut in thin slices
Green Capsicum - 1 cut in thin slices
English carrots   - 2 cut in thin slices
Beetroot        - 1/2 cut in thin slices
Black sliced olives  - a handfull
Tofu/Paneer (optional) - tofu is a healthier option

Dressing:
Apple cider vinegar - 2-3 tbsp
Extra virgin olive oil  - 2 tbsp
Black pepper - sprinkle
Mixed herbs (optional) - sprinkle
Sesame seeds/Flax seeds (optional) - sprinkle

Method:
Mix all ingredients together add dressing and mix in a big bowl. Sprinkle sesame seeds or flax seeds if you like the taste.

This salad is comparatively bland, to make it more tangy you can experiment with the dressing, you can add garlic, sesame oil or lemon juice. Next I'll post a beautiful greens+fruits salad I learnt from a Maori friend from New Zealand. It's going to be LEGEN…..wait for it…….DARY!!

p.s. No, you don't need salt in it!
